Come celebrate traditional and ethnic
dance and music at the most diverse and extensive dance event in the Delaware
Valley. From Friday night through Sunday evening the Heritage Dance Festival
bustles with dances, workshops, performances, and related activities. Choose
from contras and squares, international folk, swing, English country, waltzing,
Cajun, Latin, and much much more.
Over 1700 people attended last year's festival, which
featured more than 100 events for all ages and levels of experience. This
year's festival promises to be even more fabulous.
Heritage loves music and musicians. There are open band
sessions for contra, English country, and international folk dances as
well as jams, music workshops, and sing-alongs. Beginners and virtuosos
alike are welcome!
On Sunday afternoon, Heritage on Stage presents exhilarating
performances by ethnic, traditional, and contemporary dance troupes.
The festival includes a merchandise and crafts bazaar,
tempting ethnic and American foods, and a Silent Auction fundraiser.
Heritage is an all-volunteer festival. Performers, teachers,
leaders, and organizers all generously donate their time and talent. Throughout
the weekend hundreds of people contribute in dozens of different ways to
create a fantastic festival.
This not-to-be missed event is sponsored by the Heritage Dance Association.
There is no better place to learn participatory dancing. The
festival offers beginner's workshops in a sweeping range of dance styles
and dance parties to exercise your new skills. Come alone or with a partner
or better yet, bring a group of friends! Once you've been bitten by the
dance bug, you'll find that the Philadelphia region abounds with places
to dance seven nights a week.
Indulge your passion with continuous contra, English country,
swing, and international dancing throughout the weekend. The festival offers
dances and workshops at the intermediate and advanced levels to satisfy
your desire for extraordinary dancing and dynamic musicians and callers
to please your ears and set your feet in motion.
